And the thing is, I think it's going well! :D But, there're still many many many many and many things that we have to improve on for our Dazu pieces, not to mention our ensemble songs.Everybody JIAYOU for the next 30+ days. NYCO WE CAN DO IT! :DYay, I blogged this entire post in perfect English, didn't I? Minus the smileys lah, of course. Okay everybody, it's going to be a long day tomorrow. Sleep early and play well okay! :DBye everyone. Yours truly,Yi Ling Y

** the above statements are just hypothesises. They have not been proven true.
We have many reasons to feel proud:1) We are NYCO!
2) We are performing at Singapore Conference Hall on July 2nd!
3) We have good instructors and nice seniors/juniors!
4) We have M4-01 for practising!
5) We have intricate instruments to play on!
6) We know more about Chinese Music and its elements than any Ah Seng, Ah Beng or Ah Heng on the street!
7) We get to go for SYF biennially and show off our talents!
8) We get to be recognized as one of the best secondary school orchestras in the whole of Singapore!
9) We have talented members who play exceptionally well!
10) We are people who have the passion!
- - -
We have many other reasons too...1) NYCO - Not Your Cheena Orchestra
We are bilingual and bicultural people, not just a chinese orchestra!
2) July 2nd - So far back!?
People who count know that is a misconception.
3) Good instructors + Nice Seniors/juniors = Guilt
We really must practise hard! Waaah!
4) M4-01 - The cosy room with temperature darts varying between the North Pole and Sahara Desert
Shawn puts in a lot of effort for the clean-ups indeed!
5) Intricate Instruments = More Tuning
It's nice to have a pipa of 4 strings compared to a yangqin of 144 strings. Poor Guan Yue too!
6) Ah Seng/Beng/Heng - Different Jems
Sure of course we know more about Chinese music than them; they know more about toto and 4D!
7) SYF = Showing of talents = Hardwork = Sweat/Tears/Blood
That blood part isn't supposed to be gory! =P
8) Best secondary school orchestra = Just a title
Though it is really moralising, it's only a title, but we should cling on to it yeah baby!
9) Exceptional players = Low self esteem
Don't doubt me...
10) Passion = Lots of <3 = Beauty of music
Go NYCO! We can do it!

<3YILING!
We all play our own types of chinese musical instruments; be it the erhu, yangqin, or cello. We all have a part to play in our very own NYCO. We all contribute our utmost, and desire the best results. We play our music for ourselves; yet sometimes, let this music fade away in time.I am not talking abstract. It is a concept of ideas instead. That music, is not just about notes or the sound, but the experiences that we go through when pursuing the greatest standards of our music. Of course, we all go through different experiences in our musical journeys; some taking private lessons for personal enrichment; some often attending concerts for that extra exposure. Music is a bitter-sweet love between you and your instrument. I admit to this fact; sometimes I love my instrument, and sometimes I hate it. It's like a couple breaking up, then re-conciling, and the cycle goes on. I have yet to find my true essence in music; an everlasting essence that brings that passion on for the rest of my life.Music is your heartbeat. It is a matter of emotions and expressions of your heart. There is no "follow by the head" rule in music, just a simple recitation of feelings. A sense of satisfaction. A book of adjectives. A gesture of love. You don't need so much technical abilities to perfect your music; you just need to follow your own heartbeat, and let your audience sway with your playing, and just be content with even a clap; because you know... Someone did listen to your heartbeat. (Chewa)
Natalie!
